Installation
of an O-Bar rear sway bar for:
- Golf
II / III / IV
- Jetta
II / III / IV
- Passat
III / IV / V
- New Beetle
- Corrado
- Fox
Tools
needed:
- 14mm
socket and wrench
- 7/16"
Drill bit ( Cobalt bits recommended)
- Electric
or Pneumatic Drill ( Pneumatic, low speed/ high
torque recommended)
- Jack
and jack stands and/or a hydraulic lift
- Elevate
the car by jacking it up, making sure to leave the rear
wheels hanging with no weight on them. A hydraulic lift
is highly recommended, but not required. If a normal car
jack is utilized, be sure and place jack stand under the
vehicle before getting under it.
| Locate
the stock sway bar, located inside the rear torsion
beam of the vehicle. Find the rubber sway bar bushing,
and trim it back, so that the O-Bar will fit cleanly
inside the torsion beam. |
 |
| Hold
the O-Bar up to the bottom of the torsion beam,
and begin to drill (using the O-Bar as a guide)
into this beam. |
 |
| After
the bottom 4 bolts are drilled, fit the O-Bar inside
the torsion beam and use it as a guide to drill
through the top of the torsion beam. |
 |
-
| Once
all holes are drilled, place the 7/16" bolts
through the drilled holes and securely attach
the bolts on either side. Loctite is recommended
to keep the bolts in place.** It may be beneficial
to add a bit of axle grease on the ends of the
bar, in case of shifting during the break-in period
which should last about one day. |
